can you install updates while offline once you have downloaded them

    Hi there :),

I have very little online time and it cost me a lot.

Can I install an update ( newest Windows Media Player 12 ) which I have already downloaded, it's sitting there amongst my downloads while not connected ?

I've been trying this and it does not work, why ?

It says " searching for updates ", but it's there !!!!!

    Thanks in advance,
    Thelma

As far as I know WMP 12 is already part of Windows 7.

    Hi Brian,:)

My windows Media Player is playing up , not been used for junks. Is from the 1990 somewhere.

So I thought time to upgrade and had a look on the web. Microsoft offers the newest version so I downloaded it.

    Hey :)

As I said Windows 7 already has the latest version, you can`t upgrade it.

No clue what you mean by 1990

    Windows 7 was released October 22, 2009

    Hi Torchwood :),

    Thanks for your help !

I found this can you install updates while offline once you have downloaded them-torgwood.jpg and also that I have MKV player 2.0 installed ( I inherited this laptop )
is that any good for viewing DVD's ?

Sorry Brian, I forgot this laptop started it's live in Windows Vista, that's why the initial launch date is older.

Also, ever after these problems with windows 10 I have not updated , I simply switched it off and did not encounter any problems up till now. Perhaps I need to go and visit MacDo and do some updating first to watch a DVD

    Hi Thelma,
    Actually answering your question.
Yes you can install updates off-line
(its the standard recommended way to install the unofficial SP2 from a clean install)

    Your screenshot tells me more,
IE10 >> upgrade to IE11, (it should be in your list of Updates), or uncheck it, i see firefox
Not sure about MKV dont use it

All of the w10 nags (KB's) have been pulled
