    Thank you Roy,

    Hi Roy,
    BIOS
Changed SATA controller from AHCI to Compatibility (only choice), computer froze and I changed it back to AHCI.
Then I tried 'compatibility' again, this time it took a long time to boot, rebooted again and boot was back to normal time.
I tried windows update and it went into search for updates and hung there, left it for a few hours, it did not go out of search, cancel button did nothing, I had to use Task Control in order to stop it.
I tried manual install, got 'preparing to install' which changed into 'looking for updates within computer'* which hang same as windows update, including dead cancel button and use of task control to stop it.
    Intel Driver
Retried 'iata_enu.exe' got the same error note: 'This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software'.

    Hi Laksi,
been doin a bit more checking, system specs for that model.
Can you confirm its using the intel 965 chipset, if so the driver i pointed you to wont (cannot as its to old)
    work.
From some older posts on the intel site its suggesting an older version like this one.
Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology (Intel(R) RST) RAID Driver

It might be that we have to try a few more even older ones as that lappy, originally for Vista, and there were specific changes made for that chipset.

    hi Roy,
Verified 965 chipset, at Lenovo specification sheet, also DL & installed their Service bridge.
Let it scan for drivers and all it found missing was their Power mangment driver ver. 1.67 which I DL & installed.
    Followin your advice I downloaded
Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) RAID Driver
Version: 11.7.0.1013 (Previously Released) Date: 12/3/2012
It did not install, same error: 'This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software'.
    We need an older one.
Where should I look for it besides Lenovo support?
    Thanks

    works properly.
    driver version: 6.1.7601.17514, dated 21/06/2006
