Hi Roy

The date / time settings are correct and have been all along.

I carried out the rearm which completed successfully, but SP1 still fails

Thanks

Hi Roy

I live in the UK, not sure why my profile says the States, there doesn't seem to be an option to change it. I'll look into it later.

I cannot seem to find a COA code in the CBS.

If you could provide a link to the download, that would be great, language UK English.

I recently upgraded 2 of my PC's & a laptop to Windows 10 through the free upgrade offer. Even though I carried out a clean install, I did not need to enter the licence, as it was automatically detected by the MS servers on reboot. Will this process be the same for this W7 install ?

Thanks

Hi Gary,
Your lappy, an Aspire 5332, is an OEM version the COA sticker with the code on it is on the bottom.
Please confirm its there AND you can read it. DONT POST IT
W7 and W10 activate in different ways, its possible that you may have to make a call to MS, all of 5 minutes effort.

Hi Roy

The sticker is there but I cannot read it as the text has been rubbed off. However I ran a PC profile from Belarc Advisor which provides the key.

So, even if it does not automatically detect, just entering the key should be fine now that's its licensed and registered ?

If you can provide a download link, so that I know its the correct version.

Thanks

Hi Gary,
was it this one

VQB3X-Q3KP8-WJ2H8-R6B6D-7QJB7
Thats the core shipping code for any Acer W7 Home premium.

Yeah they put the sticker on the outside, really good idea not,

Some take automatically some dont, thats why i asked about the code.

here's the link ITS ONLY VALID FOR 24 hrs from 12.18 today.

https://software-download.microsoft....0100e476615429

Burn it to a cd,
AS you cant read the sticker, first off use it to perform a system repair, might auto install SP1 at the same time.

Roy
ive PM'd you read it please

Hi Roy

Thanks for the link and the info. I've downloaded the ISO.

Yes, that's the code. It should work if it does not authenticate automatically ?

I'll do it this afternoon.

Thanks

Hi Roy

I spoke to MS, who said that the COA code is managed by the OEM manufacturer (Acer). I spoke to ACER who said that the code is only valid for the version of Windows that they pre-install.

So in the end I just bought a W7 code, they are pretty cheap now.

Anyway, thanks very much for all your help, it really was appreciated.

Cheers
