Windows Update never stops searching for updates
I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 64-bit SP1. After activation, I tried running Windows Update, it doesn't stop searching. What can I do to fix this?

Follow these instructions exactly.
First, set Windows Updates to never check for Updates.
Next restart your computer, then install KB3020369, if not installed.
Then install KB3172605.
Windows updates should return to normal. You can then reset your updates to automatically check for updates if desired

KB3125575KB3125574 Convenience Rollup (effectively SP2) saves a lot of time on when updating a new W7 SP1 installation.

Microsoft Update Catalog
Wouldn't it be faster to (manually) install KB3020369,KB3125575KB3125574 and then KB3172605?
Note:
KB3020369 is a prerequisite forKB3125575KB3125574.

I would install the convenience roll-up after the other two, if I were going to do that.
Don't you mean KB3125574?
Hi,
The rollup was released in April
KB3172605 was released in July I believe it contains a newer update client :)
Thanks guys. Manually installing the convenience rollup fixed the problem.
But now I'm having a different problem. I made a new thread about it.
Thread: Windows Update always failing
He's followed on to another thread.
Its a counterfiet install.
NO further action required.
