    Update Issue

I just recently have acquired a Windows update issue:

    1.)
The Windows update icon is CONSTANTLY in my task bar now, telling me that I have "new updates." (Fig. 1 - attached)

    2.)
When I click the update icon from the task bar and go to the update page, nothing is "ready" to install; and the page just simply shows, "Check for updates for your computer." (Fig. 2 - attached) When I click the "Check For Updates" button here . . . I get nothing more than a "forever revolving check" that never stops and finds nothing to update (Fig. 3 - attached)

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you. Three screenshots attached.

    Follow these instructions exactly.
First, set Windows Updates to never check for Updates.
Next reboot your computer, then install KB3020369, if not installed.
    Then install KB3172605.

Windows updates should return to normal. You can then reset your updates to automatically check for updates if desired

Microsoft has now created a Knowledge Base article that finally addresses this as well.

Windows Update is taking unusually long...

    Awesome!
    I missed that!
I have now bookmarked and notated it.

    Thanks!

    Yes, @ThrashZone, of course.:)

We are all indebted to you for your hard work here on this issue.
I had already used the fix on my own systems using a slight variation posted here by another forum member @Brds7t7.
Thanks to both of you for helping so many of us.

I was only referring to the MS KB article, as I did not know about it until today.
Yes, it is good that the news finally made it from the grassroots to the Halls of Redmond, albeit a few months after the fact.

    Cheers,

    Hi,
Yes @Brds7t7 is the first person I remember posting about the KB3172605 rollup with the working update client included in it way back in July 2016 in our News section which @Brink always starts :)
Point is MS hasn't really done anything so posting a very late link to a MS article is sort of funny

Yes, MS sure was a day or two late and a buck or two short on this one...
