Reinstallation of Window 7 shows Not Genuine

Since I've had the use of my laptop, I put this away for quite a while, but now that I have some time, I'd like to get it resolved.

I had a dual boot of XP and Win7 on my desktop computer. I took it to a local PC shop to get some issues resolved and they ran a bunch of diagnostics, advised me that XP was very buggy and I should not use it. Okay, no problem, but after a bunch of other things, Win7 wasn't working either. I decided the best way to solve the problem was to reinstall Windows 7. I used Magic Jellybean to retrieve the product key and serial number, reinstalled, used the information I'd retrieved--and now it's telling me it's not a Genuine Windows copy. I didn't have the original OEM disk so I downloaded a copy (can't remember from where--it was over a year ago), but the numbers were good.

The desktop computer, btw, is 32 bit, and Windows 7 is Home Premium.
/
What do do now? The desktop has a 1TB disc on it I'd like to use because my laptop is running out of space.

Hi rosawoodsii

Your laptop is Toshiba Satellite.

Depend on which country you bought this Toshiba laptop.
Then in this way you can resolve your this Windows issue.

Call the Toshiba Service center, and ask them to provide you a Recovery disks.
Unless they can point you to the website to order this Recovery disk, which most likely in this case.

The cost is S$35.00 (some charge higher around $50) exclude delivery, Singapore dollar.

This is much cheaper than buying retail version.
The best benefit is all drivers and program are good and clean.

All you need after installation is to do Window updates.
For window updates, you need to seek this forum users for assist on how to do it.

Windows Update will not update and I've tried multiple fixes
As i did follow and completed part 1 of the windows updates.
After part 1 is completed, the next updates will be smooth going which will last few hours or days, depend on the download and your free time, rather just watch it run.

For OEM, you cannot get from MS website as they will point you to OEM.

I do have 3 Toshiba Satellite, and one of the 3 is knock-out.

I am using Toshiba Satellite L630 and using OEM Windows 7 Pro 7 64-bit.

In the Toshiba Service center, i make copies of the DVD(s) as 3 or 4 depend.
This is self-service and DVD disc is provided as part of the cost S$35.00
If not, the staff said will charge S$100.00 a bit like force to do it self-service.

This is up to you.
Your current is not OEM, and due to wrong product keys.
That is why you end up with not a Genuine Windows copy.

Eric.

The problem is not with my laptop, it's with a custom built desktop, 32 bit, not 64.

rosa The Activation Code shown in your report is for computers made by a large manufacturer & the computer is sold with Windows 7 pre-installed. Windows 7 was not released until 2009 & your computer shows it has BIOS dated 2007, which is about 2 years before Windows 7 was released.

So your computer could not have been sold with Windows 7 pre-installed & that makes your current installation non genuine. OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer & SLP stands for System Locked Pre-installation.

You will need to see if you can buy another copy of Windows 7. They are now becoming very hard to get. Do not buy one from Ebay or similar websites as they are very often pirated & just as bad as the one you have now.

Someone else of this Forum may come in & advise where you can get a new one as you are in the US. You cannot use your current Activation Code as it will not work on your computer, even with a new copy of Windows 7.

Your installation of Windows 7 is counterfeit.

You have a COA/SLP on a retail MSI motherboard.

Your bios date is 2007.
Windows 7 didn't come out until 2009.
