ASUS Maximus V Formula BIOS issue Win7x64 fully updated then dies
I have found some bits that sound like my issue, but none that fix it.
It seems that I have had issues ever since the KB3133977 update. For some reason I never saw anything related to it, and ended up reinstalling Windows, or somehow recovering with a chkdsk in dos. My most recent incident is still active and I can't manage to get around it. Here is what I have done;
Freshly formatted Seagate 2TB drive with Windows 7 64 bit installed, got past the update problem and had all updates done and computer working smoothly. Started getting some things that I like installed. Mostly Wargaming.net games. Was able to use all of them with no apparent issues.
The last thing I did before it all went downhill was to install Adobe Creative Suite 4. Seems like I used Photoshop one or two times before I shut the pc off one night. The next morning it kept trying to repair itself. Booting from my DVD tends to tell me that the disk is not compatible with that version of Windows. I was able to run chkdsk /f/r. That took about 6 hours, but completed without anything tragic.
For the last couple of days I have been wrestling with this UEFI/BIOS issue, thinking that might be the answer. I have tried just about every setting. Some settings boot and say Operating System Missing, while others boot once, reset and got to system repair. I would love to remove the KB3133977 update, but since the OS will not start, I'm not able to do that in a traditional fashion. Could that be done through the DOS prompt?
Any idess to make this work without going back to square one again, would be appreciated.
Thanks!
