    Hi,
    You might be infected
Can you download anything or just not able to download updates ?
Might try safe mode with networking and use some free scanners like malwarebytes and Adwcleaner

Review Jacee’s instructions to run Adwcleaner here post #7,
Ignore the title of the thread,
    Instant Savings App

You can use these free tools to see if they find anything,
Manually Update them before running full scans,
Try not to use your computer while the scans are running, (one at a time of course).
See this tutorial on how to download and run Malwarebytes,
    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free
Also use the Custom scan option not the Threat scan,

    Malwarebytes | Malwarebytes Premium
SAS is safe to remove anything it finds
SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!

    Safe mode with networking,
Shut down your machine, Unplug-Hold the power button down for 30/45 seconds (Power Drain)
Power up and Tap the F8 key continuously until you see a black page with white text,
Use the down arrow key to toggle to safe mode with networking/ hit the enter key.
    Login as usual
    Other advanced methods,
    Safe Mode

Hi SIW2 thanks for your advice but this problem has been on going several months and i confess i have ignored it till no,so system restore i dont think would help and the same with image restore, clean install would be my last resort.

hi ThrashZone, thank you also for helping,i will follow your advice about safe mode and running scans but i do run malware bites and adwclearner often but anything is worth a try at the moment,i will get back with the results.

If all the instructions in the previous posts have been followed then that means something on your comp is stoping them.

please run the following, copy/paste the results,
    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=52012

Can you also copy/paste your last day's entries from your CBS log.

Hi DavidE i installed System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) and ran SFC Scan but no errors found plus i ran update all night and it was still searching this morning so i dont get any error codes. With the log collection do you just want the CBS report or the whole folder?
