Windows Updates won't install. Computer keeps wanting to restart.

    Hi!

I have had no new Windows Updates since Aug 2016. I now get a message within a few minutes of first logging onto my computer that it has to restart in order to install Windows Updates. I restart the computer but no updates have been installed.

I am unable to run SURT. When I try to run the Installer, I get a message asking if I want to install Hotfix for Windows KB947821. If I say Yes, the install hangs because the Hotfix update fails. If I say No, the install terminates.

I ran scannow and have attached the log file. I had to split the log file into two due to size. I have attached the CheckSUR log files.

I have also attached a Word document with various screen shots.

Can you please help? Let me know if there is anything else I can provide to help you out.

    Many thanks!

    ....Lina

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
If you go to uninstall a program and view installed updates how many are listed after the page loads them all ?
Also review post #2 here to see if these 2 updates are installed
Windows Update will not update and I've tried multiple fixes

    Hi Fornelli,
In that case i think were gonna have to run this command again, from an elevated command mode

    REG LOAD HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS
    REG DELETE HKLM\COMPONENTS /V PendingRequired

    then try updates.

are you using a tune-up utility, or registry cleaner??

    Hi torchwood

The first command ran -- "operation completed successfully". However, I get the following error message with the second command: "The system was unable to find the specified registry key or value.".

I do have CCleaner loaded but it's been a while since I've run it. I'll go do that now. Is there anything else you recommend?

    Thanks!

    Hi torchwood

Not sure if that worked. See screenshots. And, no, I haven't reinstalled anything on my machine.

    Thanks!
