Realize this post is old but the similarity to my issue is uncanny. Basically it's identical. I encountered this problem in last several days attempting to install TurboTax Deluxe 2016. Intuit uses .NET Framework 4.5.2 and the install attempted to upgrade my .NET Framework 4.5.1 to ver 4.5.2 and got the first of many fatal errors trying to solve this problem. Also my Quicken has ceased to run as a result of this problem. Did you get any resolution to your problem Woodstockjs? Conversations with Intuit were unfruitful. Need to do my taxes again this year:). Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi Greyrider,
please uninstall any elements of Turbotax, (if any)
then try the Netframework repair tool from here.
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl....aspx?id=30135
    REBOOT
    update NF to 4.5.2
if that fails, please post todays entries from the CBS log

I apologize for not stating my problem clearly enough

    Hi Roy,

Thanks so much for your offer to help, I really appreciate that.

Your suggestion made me aware that I wasn't too clear about the state of my problem. I have downloaded and run the .Net Framework tool from Microsoft's site multiple times hoping it would solve my problem. The issue is that all instances of .Net Framework have been removed from my machine, at the suggestion of Intuit. A repair tool doesn't help if you don't have the software installed you are attempting to repair. Also I have several years of TurboTax on my machine so that prior years data can be drawn forward into the current year. The current version of Turbo Tax, 2016, didn't even begin the install because it found that I did not have the V4.5.2 installed so it offered to do that for me. I said yes but of course that process failed also.

Intuit isn't the only problem since many developers utilize .Net Framework to build their software. I'm seeing error messages from things like Logitech because I have some of their peripherals installed. Hope this has clarified my situation for you. Hope to hear back.

    Hi Gr3Y,
gonna need to know whats causing Net to fail, can you follow this thread from MS, it also lists a couple of fix's.
    https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/var...tall-failures/

if they fail, post the temp log from NF and the same days CBS log.
note if it installs change your update settings to LET ME CHOOSE then run TurboTax
    >> only << update the NF >>version<< for the time being
If that then works HIDE ANY NF updates

I'm at the limit of my ability but will gladly continue to work

Torchwood, I fear I've just crossed over into an area that is above me. If you are willing to go slowly I will continue to "push ahead".

I've attached the CBS log as well as what I hope is the temp NF log. If this is not correct I will wait to receive your response before sending the proper data.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Gr3y,
Normal updates appear to be fine, so that leaves the net installer,
can you navigate to this location
(DO NOT alter them yet, would like to see them first)

Click Windows button and type ‘regedit’ in search bar.
    Click ‘regedit’ in search results
navigate to following registry entry HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer
Check if following registry keys have correct values:

    • MsiExecCA32 should end with \Windows\syswow64\msiexec.exe

    • MsiExecCA64 should end with \Windows\system32\msiexec.exe

if should look like the screenshot

Can you also copy me your features box

control panel >> programs/features >> features (top left) > a smaller window will open

if Netframework is there expand it

    Roy

missing NETFramework in Programs and Features

    Torchwood,

Here may well be the problem (I don't have the solution).

Registry entries match yours, but NETFramework is missing, it should appear here sequentially?
