    Hi Dani,
can you confirm a couple things
When did you last install/re-install. (Mar 2015?)

Have you updated Office to SP1 -- NOT the same as W7 SP1
(note not sure if its the problem it is pushing out an error code)

thanks for getting back to me,
This is actually a friends laptop, looking at installed programs, they go back to 2011 and as far as I know that would be about right for when the unit was puchased.

Office 2003 is at sp3, office 2010 has not been initialized / activated.

    Thanks, Dan

    Hi Dani,
    from wiki
Service Pack 1 for Office 2003 was released on July 27, 2004, Service Pack 2 was released on September 27, 2005, and Service Pack 3 was released on September 17, 2007. The last cumulative update for Office 2003, Service Pack 3 resolved several compatibility and stability issues with Windows Vista and later operating systems, and is a roll-up release that contains Service Packs 1 and 2 along with other updates previously released under Windows Update.[8] Mainstream support for Office 2003 ended April 14, 2009, and extended support ended on April 8, 2014, the same time as Windows XP.[9]

According to the tool the licence is non-genuine, which could be easily explained by the above.
copy any detail from that version
    Remove Office 2003

    REBOOT

    Install/activate 2010 copy data back.
    rerun the tool

    (Ask your friend first)

Thanks Roy, office 2010 is preinstalled click to run so no license for it. I will try uninstalling office 2003 and see if I can then update windows to sp1 if you think that will work. Out of curiosity where in the log do you see that 2003 is non genuine?

    Thanks

    Hi Dan,
    Well its certainly moved on
But that error code has a multitude of causes/resolutions.

How long do you want to spend on it,
Quickest fix - clean install with SP1, (details from COA please DO NOT POST CODE)
    or
we can try and fix it.
    run SURT
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...3-d2c47c6fcffc

    then sfc /scannow

    post the logs
