    Thanks Roy for replying.

    1. If severs are going to be busy, I should update, few days later...I'll try maybe am lucky, like today once I got connected.

    2. CC, reg fixing as an option to save reg, before fixing, but I didn't save, assuming it's a safe reg cleaner.

    3. I have an image, with out it, I'll restore that.

    4. Do I run MS disk cleaner, after restoring the image....it should be run both before creating and after restoration...correct?

    Thanks.

    Hi Roy,

Has the MS server issues been resolved? IP fixed?

Am still getting the error, on Checking for updates.

    Thanks.

    Edit:

Restored the image, with only W7 and Off with their updates, created Dec 16.

    Hi Alexey,
    re your edit.

    RE-INSTALLED december version.

run the tool again, no need to post it, if you see,
the 080040005 in the office section then its still classified by MS as non-genuine
and if the not registered is showing in the Windows activation technology section
    run KB971033.

    Hi Roy,

Restored image, while performing clean install.

Created image at each step, than.

    1. W7 with updates. 2. W7 with MS Off with updates.

Restored the 2nd image, when was performing a clean install, using Thrash's method.

    None are responding.

Do I need to clean install?

Don't understand, why by mere luck it responded 2 days back.

    Now again, same error?

    Thanks.

    W7 activated, Off registered...

    Now what...

    Would a clean install, help?

Creating backup images, at each step was useless...

    Thanks!

    Hi Thrash,

Before I started to perform a clean install, have a few questions, which could save me from the ordeal!

I'd appreciate if you'd care to share your expert reply.

    1. As per your expert advice, during last clean install, was creating back ups at each step, in total approx. 4/5.

    2. For example, one with W7 and all updates, next with Off and all updates and next with 3rd party etc.

    3. This clean install was done in last Dec.

    4. Windows was working fine till, this March, i.e regular auto check for Important updates daily.

    5. Windows failed to check and got stuck at Checking for Updates daily, since 9th March.

    6. I assumed, as posted earlier that the reason could be I ran registry check option in CCleaner and removed the invalid items, without backing up the reg errors, in January.

    7. But, Windows was checking for Important updates daily, even after that.

    8. I thought, why not restore the image created, before installing CCleaner.

    9. I did that and kept going back, restoring each backup to see where the issue is, but after restoring each backup, get the same error, whose screen shots am uploading.

    10. "windows could not check updates automatically".........Checking for updates runs and than displays an error......on clicking on Windows update, displays Check for Updates for your computer."

    11. If that is the issue than there isn't any need to create backups at each step during a clean install, which wont work?

    Hoping to hear from you?

    Thanks again!

    Edit:

PS: The screenshots are from the 2nd image of W7 and Off with all there updates, created in Dec 16.

    Hi again,

Restored the 1st backup created, i.e W7 Only, with Updates, same issues.

I changed Product ID key, and was activated instantly online but still the same.

    It's confusing..

    Any ideas why?

    Thanks.

    Hello Roy,

Ran the MS Genuine Diag tool too, after restoring the 2nd image, with W7 and MS Off, none 080040005 errors.

    Uploading screenshot, showing genuine...

    Any clues?

    Thanks.
