SP1 was released by Microsoft about 6 years ago. It's meant to be an important system update that includes performance, stability and security improvements. As I understand things, Windows 7 will be supported by Microsoft until January 14, 2020 but only if SP1 is installed. This Microsoft fact sheet gives more info about support for Windows 7.

I recommend installing SP1, especially if you're planning on keeping your computer for any length of time. I also recommend backing up any important data like documents, photos, files, etc just in case things don't work as they should. This Microsoft help article gives more info about how to install SP1 as well as links for obtaining it via Windows Update (recommended) or from the Microsoft Download Center.

    Hi Danny,

According to your system specs, you are already running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit SP1.

It is wise to get a copy of the installtion media if you don't already have that. Just in case you need to do a clean/repair install at some stage.

Hi Danny. Try this. A easy way to check.

Tick the Windows key and the Pause key and you should get this.
