    Cannot access the update settings

    So one of my Windows 7 pro 64-bit machine is acting a bit weird. I was one of those who installed (last year) the GWX program which worked fine. Now I wanted to remove it which I did and followed the instructions at the website. Made sure and did everything prior to uninstall was completed and verified.

    But after removal (along with the folder) I still do not have access to my Windows update settings (see picture). So I checked some of my "changed setting logs" and I found out that in the gpedit.msc I had turned off:
    * Configure Automatic Updates
    * Turn off the upgrade to the latest version of Windows through Windows Update

    So I put these back, but still no joy. Is there something else I can do to get this back? I rebooted at each change.

    From you picture.

    Put a check mark in (Allow all Users to install updates on this computer).

    Check registry locations as per this thread:

    Ssettings are managed by your administrator - PC was part of a Domain - Windows 7 Help Forums

    EDIT: Also read the rest of the thread.

    @Layback Bear - thanks for the reply. Did not work though
    @Callender - The registry explanation was the key to fixing it. Setup the key exactly like here, reboot and it now is accessible.

    Thanks for the help everyone.
