    Hi,
Heck you might try SIW2's post here
Win 7 pro update - Windows 7 Help Forums
Good call Thrash and plaudits for SIW2! I ran Dism++ as directed & it found two April rollup updates which I let it install. I then rebooted and let it scan again. It didn't find any others but Windows Update itself then prompted for 8 important updates, among which was a May version of the first two, which I let it download and install. It reported one failure but I let it try again and it was then successful.

In the update history for today there were a large bunch of failed updates for MSE files. However I have MSE set to check for and install its updates each Sunday, which is tomorrow, so I'll wait to see what happens.

I presume I can use Dism++ again if Windows update fails to notify of future updates. I see it has a lot of other interesting-looking functions and wonder if there's a guide for it anywhere.

I'll mark this thread as solved even though I don't yet know if Windows Update will work correctly now.

Just a final quick addendum : MSE successfully updated it's definitions today so now I must just wait to see if Windows Update has resumed checking for new updates.

All looks good. Today I got a notification of new updates and it downloaded and installed them with no problems.

Thanks again to all who helped with this.
