    Prevent Windows 10 Tutorial

Hey guys, is there a Prevent Windows 10 Tutorial here somewhere?

I'm thinking of trying the NEVER10 Software or the Official Microsoft Update?

I know there is a lot of info on the web about this, Updates to remove etc. But not a good Tutorial all in one place. I'm not sure yet if it downloaded or what is happening. I just did a system restore from SafeMode because the Desktop was all frozen up, completely. Now things are working great, but when I first booted, I noticed that Windows Update was running, so I was able to stop it because I did not want Updates coming through as I was working on it. Then I saw that Windows 10 Update Failed...Whew! because I did not want that.

I forget how to even check if it has downloaded and is waiting to install, where the folder is and what the Update# is, any help would be really nice. I didn't start working on computers till after all this Windows10 debacle started so am not up on it as I would like to be. I still have people that it is trying to come through if you can imagine that!

    Thanks, Nasty7

I'm in the process of uninstalling the offending Updates, but this seems as though it will take a long time. Can't just the Installation be prevented, rather than Uninstall the Whole (What I believe is the Whole Windows 10 OS) Update?

I just Uninstalled kb2952664 and it took an hour on an old i3 based machine. Don't know if I want to continue with this if it 's going to take so long.

Still have 2990214, 3021917 and 3022345 to go? Can someone clear all this up for me, is the MS Official Update good or should I try the NEVER10 to prevent the Upgrade, or will this take a long time also?

    Thanks, Nasty7

    Hi Nasty7,

    ALL MS W10 update nags
have been pulled, they issued another update to uninstall them

There is no longer a need to install a W10 blocker program.

Uninstalling the Nag is not of my concern, it is the ability to prevent the Forced Upgrade.

No Windows 10 Blocker was Installed, it is a portable program that apparently will do the same as MS Update will, and even better will give you the choice of Removing or Preventing the install of windows 10.

The job is done now but still need some in-site into this. I run into this once a month it seems. This occurs because people don't shut down their computers etc. so they will still Upgrade to 10.

Thanks torchwood, I'll check to see if that Update is on the pc. Wait, I did check with that ghacks link I found at this site, and it was not installed.

I've used GWX Before, but it was a little confusing to me. I do mostly simple repairs, setup printers, reinstalls etc. so all the questions to answer in GWX were not good for me, but it was very popular at the time I know. I will see what happens, don't even know for sure that Windows Ten tried to come through but it seems that it did? Also had the "Windows 10 couldn't be installed" error message, but was able to fix that.

I'll research KB3035583, I wonder if there is a good description at MS...probably not LOL, I'll look for one somewhere. Is this the actual Upgrade, or what causes the Upgrade?

Bahahwahaha...this is what MS comes up with searching "KB3035583" O-boy.

"Try searching for what you need"

    "This page doesn’t exist."

I guess it is considered the GWX App? which is what, the Software that downloads and installs W10? Just trying to understand, yes I'm a little late understanding GWX LOL, but still relevant to me, and would guess some others also. I can't believe I'm still seeing people with this issue. I had a laptop do this last year, upon reboot W10 came through. Then noticed the customer Closed the Lid on laptop thinking it was shut down. She had been doing this all along, even in her car it was running for the trip to her winter home LOL, it was literally running for like 9mo straight I think lol. Now she knows to shut it down.

    Thanks!
