Error 0x80070057 Fixed in Safe Boot not in normal boot.

Hello. Installed Win7 and SP1 on7/31. Got 20 updates and all MS Office updates. On 8/2 updates stopped working. Tried many fix programs. None worked. Error 0x80070057 won't get fixed. Now I booted in safe mode and ran Reset_Windows_Update_Full.bat and then WindowsUpdate.diagcab. Run in this order the last one fixed the error! If I run WindowsUpdate.diagcab first the error is not fixed. I thought that did it, but when I booted back into normal mode, the error reappeared! Why is this happening? I have run many fixit programs and none have worked. HELP!

    Hi Raylight1,

Looks like you have installed Avast,
The odd thing CBS identified it but not SURT, (kb947821), usually the other way round.

Can you uninstall it Via SAFE MODE
Avast Uninstall Utility | Download aswClear for Avast Removal

can you run this tool, copy/paste the output

Had installed Avast, uninstalled it. The program folder with some dll's in it was still there. I deleted it and cleaned the registry. Ran the prog you wanted and here are the results:

    Hi Ray,

Looks like MS has picked up that your running a non genuine system.

    The report tells me
Its using an alledged OEM Factory install type key - yours is a custom/retail build
The product key is actually for a Samsung product
As your system was built in 2003 that cannot be possible - W7 didnt come out till 2009
The product key for Office is for an Enterprise Volume licence - also non genuine
An activation exploit is also in use.

Forum policy states that piracy is unacceptable and no further help will be provided

Purchase genuine media and if the problems continue then we will be happy to assist you
