Unknown folders appear on C: Drive

    Hi

I have just been through a few days of trying to get Windows Update to work,
this included a repair install and a precise order of updating, all is working
    very well now.

But I have a number of Unknown folders on C: Drive, I suspect these are leftovers
from the update process, that is why I am posting here.

    Can I remove these folders.

I have attached a screenshot of the offending folders.

    Regards

    Daniel

Are these files in the Windows/Temp directory, if they are you should be able to delete them. If they are required or are in use you wont be able to delete them, so leave those alone.

    Hi Again

They are all on C: drive directly, not in folders.

I have not seen this before and they take up over 2Gb of space so I would
like to get rid of them.

    Cheers

Try deleting them & see what happens, as some of them have the Locked symbol on them (indicated by the little padlock) you may not be able to delete them if they are required or are in use.

When I said the Windows/Temp directory I meant C:/Windows/Temp, which is where I get a lot of those files & I delete them but some will not delete as they are in use or required.

    Hi

I deleted them to the Recycle Bin and will leave them there for a couple of weeks and see
    what happens.

I will post again then of if there is an issue.

    Thanks

Thanks for getting back. I don't think you will have any problems.
