I activated many years ago, but now it's demanding re-activation!

I'd activated my Windows 7 Pro system many years ago, but now it's demanding reactivation, but won't accept the correct info! The license for this particular computer with the problem is a paid consumer Pro version.

Every time I try to re-activate and I try to enter my Product ID and Key, the entry forms REFUSE to allow me to enter the first block of characters! Obviously it's never going to work if it won't allow me to enter the first character block of the Product ID and Key, so I'm left with this impossible situation!

What I mean when I say the forms refuse to allow me to enter the first block of characters is this: Say my Product ID is 12345-678-1234567-12345. When I copy and paste this string into the form, it NEVER shows the initial 12345- ; it ONLY shows 678-1234567-12345!!

What the heck is wrong? Why is it asking me to re-activate after all these years, and then why does it refuse to accept the first block of characters?

By the way, what the report above shows for "Windows Product Key", does NOT match the correct key, the key I used to initially activate the machine in question! It's not even close! That's also true for the "Product Key" shown in the report.

    Hi Thenin,

Please remove Office its non-genuine, its going to a blocked Volume licence server.

This may then allow you to enter the product key, although there is another problem with WAT not picking up a field correctly.
    please install KB971033.
    reboot
    rerun the tool

The key shown in the report is the default for Pro, output when a key is incorrect or not detected.
(i can see you have also rearmed, the issue possibly started in early june)

Thank you most kindly, torchwood, for your reply! I apologize for the delay in responding.

I have resolved the problem. Your reference to KB971033 was the key insight. When I looked it up, I found a post wherein a Microsoft engineer noted that it was just fine to uninstall it and hide it! Therefore I did so, rebooted, then once more ran the online activation tool with the correct, legal key, and it worked.

Note that I now have a brand new problem related to Windows Update, but naturally I started a new thread to discuss it. It can be found here: Windows Update corrupt? Wrongly shows no updates before Oct 2017?

    Thanks!

I don't know what COA key you are trying to use but the one in your log 'Post 1' is a default key and will never activate.
