    Windows de-activated, error 0xC004F200

    Hi,

I've been using this machine since I bought it second-hand in mid-June and recently Windows de-activated itself while in use (not even at reboot).

The error code given in the not-genuine warning at log-in is 0xC004F200.

When I respond to the prompt the only option is "Go online and resolve now", which leads to a Microsoft website prompting me to download and run legitcheck.hta, which totally fails in Chrome but does run in IE, except it then throws script errors and also fails.

The CoA on the machine is for Vista Business OEM so I'm going to be surprised to find I've been sold a dud install, but still, is there anything I might have missed doing?

    Thanks.

    Hi XAM2175,

The key in use is for a not for resale MSDN product.
WAT, (Windows Activation Technologies) has minor and major validation critera.
The major check is performed every 90 days, which is why you have started to get the notification.

I suggest, if its not to late, that you contact the seller and ask for a refund

A Vista Business OEM sticker does NOT cover a W7 installation
The product key on it will not match the one from the report.
The Office Enterprise install is also non-genuine.

Yeah I know there's no upgrade rights from Vista Business to 7 Professional so the CoA is just what the machine originally shipped with. Figured I'd been had so thanks for confirming it.

What's the tell that the Office install is non-genuine when the diagnostic tool's saying it is?

    Hi XAM2175,

Because its part and parcel of the MSDN subsciption, it gives the option to download it as an extra, but still validates against that key as opposed to buying a seperate one.
