I have this trouble as well. Seems the new version is looking for a .dll that is only part of Windows 8. I do not have access to another machine as this is a machine that had an SDD failure. I've replaced the SDD and installed windows 7. I'm going to give this machine to my mother for christmas and she needs to the accessibility features (magnifier)

I'm currently downloading slower than before, which seems like it is working. You do not need another machine.

- Delete for Windows10Upgrade folder
- Take the file from Job48
- Disable your network (so his file doesn't get updated)
- Run the downloaded file
- Once past the agreement, enable your network

That's it!

Well, I shared the older version with a couple folks who reached out and they said it worked for them so here's a working alternative temporary link to the one embedded in a post from someone else. This is a media fire link for anyone else who may need it so they don't need to email me directly:

media fire dot com + /file/mvt5dbd1cz89e4v/Working-Windows10Upgrade.zip

May get taken down/removed if it gets downloaded a bunch. Hopefully Microsoft will release a fixed version soon and before that happens. Scan and validate at your own risk. This is not any W10 code.

Mods: My apologies if I missed a rule about this, if so, please go ahead and delete / remove and I won't repost.

Same issue. Already tried this method. It downloads to about 80%, it says installing from 80 to 99 and when the time comes to reboot and actually install the OS, I get a "Something went wrong" with error code 0x80004005. Googled that, I apparently need to stop wuauserv, bits and cryptographic services, rename a bunch of folders and try again. I'll try to do this tomorrow.

Btw, is there a way to skip the download all together? After the first error, I found the ESD image, converted it to iso and was, but it asks for a w10 key.

If you don't disable your network before/when you run the program using the posted old version, the first thing it does is check for a newer version and update itself, it then silently restarts and you'll have the same issue. So, as others noted you have to delete the contents of the original folder (or just rename it), then use the older version posted here in it's place. Make sure you disable your network (unplug from back of PC/wall/wifi or disable in network properties). Once it gets to the part where it's going to download the code you can (and must) re-enable the network.

If you already downloaded the install file (large 2.7GB file in that folder) you can put it in the older/working version and save the re-download time.

If you already tried all that, maybe a different issue.

might be worthe mentioning, you have to uninstall the Upgrade assistant from the control panel before running the other file.

sedace Thanks for your response. Yeah I have tried that exactly as laid out but still get this same error. I tried the update a couple days ago and and made it further in the upgrade process. The upgrade ultimately failed though (usb device left in during install) I tried to upgrade again today but have been unable to get pass this error after it verifies the download. I also had some windows updates this morning too. I've uninstalled those and am trying again
