I have 2 Windows 7 Japanese PCs : one an HP with an AMD processor - and a Dell with Intel . This evening , my wife inadvertently shutdown the HP before I could disable auto update . Got the blue screen of death and other booting problems . Rebooted a couple of times and the PC is now working . Is the computer going to be OK now ? Anything you would advise doing ? A computer dummy in Japan . Thanks in advance .

I think I have disabled the auto update function on my Japanese Dell but can't be positive until tomorrow morning when my wife will be able to confirm . I've read that some people have had trouble with Intel as well which my Dell has . One guy said that he put his PC to sleep and when he took it out the computer auto updated and he got the BSOD . ? Anyway , I changed the sleep setting so that only the monitor will sleep and the PC will run all night . I'm afraid if it goes to sleep I might experience the aforementioned trouble .

This morning I checked the update history of the my HP which got the BSOD yesterday ( i left on all night so i'd be sure it'd work when I got up ) - and it said that KB4056894 had been " successfully " installed but that AMD driver update for AMD SMbus ( whateve that is ) had NOT been . When I closed Windows update window I immediately got same message I got yesterday re: network cannot be connected followed by blue screen of death once again . Waiting to see if reboots successfully . At a loss as to what to do .
