    When installing KB4056894, Code 800B0100

    Hello.
I am in quite the situation.

The update KB4056894 is an important anti-Meltdown quick-fix (at least from what I read) from 4th of January that I cannot install.

There was a situation on Thursday when the later update from 9th of January bricked my Windows 7 by deactivating its product key activation. Combined with me being unable to launch slui.exe I was basically stuck with a non-registered Windows.

So I had to use in-built backup disk image function of Backup and Restore to get to 5th of January image.

Somehow this has corrected EVERY issue (I successfully installed the anti-meltdown megafix from the 9th of January with no further issues appearing) but bricked 4th of January's KB4056894. Which had been already installed on 4th of January..so it HAD to be on the system image from the 5th of January? Right?

Somehow it got damaged and uninstalled.

So I went and tried to install it again.

    And this error started appearing.

This is my work PC. I cannot, due to time constraints, reinstall my Windows 7 on it. I need to solve this issue in another way. Thank you for your help.

    PS: Logs and Image added.

    Hi durabys,

according to the logs only some parts of that KB are installed
Quickest fix -- have you a restore point earlier than 5 Jan thats to late
(suggest you download Macrium Free - create an image in the future as this is a work machine)

checking something else will be back

I have a question. If I only System Restored (and not Restored the entire disk image that takes two days) would it work too? Would it returns Windows Update and System32 and the Windows system central files while not taking too long?

Because I have a system restore point at 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st of January too.

    Hi

    Something odd here,

Installing that KB should not have broken the activation and give the error code 800B0100
the logs and code indicate its looking for Server activation and failing
there are more than 1 error codes, this is the first one it found and reported

please post the results from this tool- no personal data

    Hi durabys,

I have to follow forum policy
    Rule 4
No piracy or discussion of piracy allowed at all. Such as software, music, videos and other intellectual property violations (e.g. downloading youtube videos locally etc) - it is forum policy that no help shall be given to people who knowingly steal software or services.

According to the last report you are running a non genuine OS
You are using a "lifted" OEM product key on a Retail motherboard, and that error code means MS has picked it up as well

Until a genuine product key is in use no further help can be provided.
