    Hi Joe,

that key is for an MSDN subscrition product, and is marked as NOT for Resale, can only be sold by MS.

you could try the MS download site, but i dont think you will have any joy

Download Windows 7 Disc Images (ISO Files)

I don't know what an MSDN subscription is. Are you implying that my installation was one time only, or something more nebulous?

In any event, I located the original ISO file along with an installation Word document containing the product key (matches the one I verified yesterday). It was located on my old computer!

So I can now burn an installation disk using ImgBurn. Can I "slipstream" the Service Pack 1 and all Windows updates into the installation disk first? If I don't do this first, will the computer not recognize the installation disk as being the same version of Windows?

    Hi Joe,

if you follow the link i provided, its a direct download from MS, it will include SP1

You will need the key you have and if MS are happy with it you will be able to download the Iso files.

Slipstream Windows 7 SP1 into a Installation DVD or ISO File - Windows 7 Help Forums

As for slipstreaming follow the tutorial

Probabaly easier to get any official windows 7 iso file that includes SP1. They contain all editions. It might be called "ultimate" but contains all other editions.

The common method is to remove the ei.cfg file to make all editions availabe.

    Roy,

I tried the link you provided:

Download Windows 7 Disc Images (ISO Files)

MS was not happy with the key.

What does that mean? Do I have a "bad" copy of Windows?

I found my original ISO, without any updates and without SP1. I can slipstream all updates into it including SP1........unless I can get a new copy with updates already included, somehow.

I can slipstream but am now concerned as to why I couldn't download the updated ISO from Windows.

I can tell you that I bought the ISO from an online website back in 2012. It has no updates and no SP1.

It is shown as a retail version (not OEM). What does this mean? Is there a difference?

PS: Here's what the slipstream page says about repair installs:

    • You cannot use a slipstream Windows 7 installation disc to do a repair install with on a currently installed Windows 7 SP1.
    • You cannot use a slipstream Windows 7 installation disc to do a repair install with on a currently installed slipstream Windows 7 SP1.
    • You can use a Windows 7 with SP1 installation disc (ex: Technet, MSDN, or retail) to do a repair install with on a current slipstream Windows 7 SP1 installation.

What does this mean to me?
