Windows Update Doesn't
All interested bodies--
In the recent past I have incurred a rash of Windows Update (80070490) errors. This appears to ONLY occur for updates that are NON-Important (recommended, or optional).
I have been through the extensive litany of suggested corrections, including Windows Update Readiness Tool, and the Windows Update Troubleshooter (recognizes the failures, claims to have fixed, but doesn't), to NO AVAIL.
Having perused the Windows Update.log, I find that the CBS subsystem is the logic that encounters/returns the 80070490 error.
Something tells me that a recent patch to something (CBS ?) has induced this error.
If there's anyone out there who is intimate with this logic (knows, or can view the code) I would most appreciate advice/direction.
I feel a bit vulnerable in not being able to apply ALL of the updates offered, irrespective of their criticality level.
At this point, I'm at my wits-end, color me frustrated!
I will do my best to provide any/all requested supporting documentation.
Thanking you in advance for any technical support!!!!
