How to replicate updates from one windows 7 to another

    Hello,

I have 2 office laptops (same hardware) running Windows 7 enterprise on both of them. One of the laptop (laptop-1) is being used every day so no issues with that. The other laptop (laptop-2) was used 7 months ago (connected to office via VPN) and not updated since 9 months or so. IF I try to connect to office VPN it gets immediately disconnected as it did not have latest updates (atleast that's what system administrator told me). I don't want it to be rebuilt from scratch.

    1) Now How can I update laptop-2 without connecting VPN? (our office WSUS setup pushes automatic updates) by using laptop-1 updates, perhaps? (laptop-1 has up-to-date updates).

    2) It also shows that no windows 7 license (as it was not connected to office network for last 6 months - KMS activation i guess). Is it possible to fix this without connecting office VPN? ( I don't want to use any cr-acking tool as its office laptop). OR If I update to latest and then connect to office VPN, the license automatically gets renewed?

    Appreciate any help! thanks!!

EDIT: I don't think disk cloning (and then change hostname etc.) is NOT an option as both laptops are PGP disk encrypted...

    Hi Prvnrk,

you could try WSUS Offline updater, can be found at MajorGeeks site.
Once updated try reconnecting to your VPN

As for your lost KMS activation
Yes there is a time limit set for the reactivation cycle, usually 180 days.
    run this elevated command
    slmgr /dlv

Being kicked off the network because your out-of-date update wise seems strange
I do have a theory believe its because of SMB1 removal re Wannacry hardening.

    Have a read if this

If you do not know your product key please run Belarc advisor it will pull ALL your licence details

    Many thanks torchwood :)

I managed to update both windows and office. How do I know which KB might have solved SMB1 wannacry issue?

I also ran slmgr /dlv which shows status as "additional grace period) and remainig time is 29 days.

Also, if I connect to VPN, will the license automatically gets renewed OR should I run slmgr after connecting to VPN?

I got the Windows product using belarc advisor but can't find my KMS license server name/IP (of my company's)? How can I get this info?

In case connecting to VPN fails, can I activate it using Microsoft KMS server using the key shown by Belarc?

Many thanks again for your kind help!!

    Hi

If you can connect to the VPN it will/should re-activate,
If not you will need to talk to your system admin guys he will have the server name/ip and port details

Run Belarc on computer 1, it sould show the same KMS key

not sure which kb was for Wannacry

Even though I installed many updates using WSUS offline, somehow SMB wannacry KB (kb4012212) missed which I installed manually.

I also updated Java, flash player & 7-zip and finally connected to office VPN which is a success. Immediately my OS license renewed to 180 days. All good so far!!

Is there anyway to force to check updates from office WSUS server?

Thanks again for your help torchwood :)

Never mind, after a couple of hours, our WSUS Server started pushing couple of rollup updates so all good.

But still there's one issue with user profile, it's login ONLY with temporary roaming profile (not with my actual user profile). I tried 3-4 times by rebooting/relogin but same issue. Wonder how can I fix this problem, should I open a new thread?
