I have an unusual problem. My desktop recently died, or appeared to, and I had word processing and printing which I had to do. My laptop had XP on it, and my printer is not compatible with that OS. In a panic I grabbed a Windows 7 disc I had used on a refurb unit and installed Windows 7 on the laptop. Problem is, I can't activate it with the previously used key. I want to be legal, but am sort of caught in a Catch-22 situation. I don't have enough room in my hard drive for a new install, less than 3GB left. This may be due to a partition created for Linux when I was running XP. I don't even know if that partition is still separated. Microsoft doesn't sell keys alone, so what can I do?

Hi Miscreant, welcome to Seven Forums,

You will not need to activate it if it is just to print Word documents as you have 30 days in which to activate, or am I missing something?
Can you not download the drivers needed for your printer?
Another option that might be available to you is to find another computer with Word and a printer in the short term to get you out of trouble!

    I hope this helps!

Word processing is not the problem. That is done. Incidentally, my desktop started working again. I just want to activate 7 on my laptop somehow.
