    Hi Betterdays,

follow this link, Norton Uninstaller, use in SAFE mode please.

Uninstall and Reinstall Norton product using the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool

Recreating the licence store does not allways require you to re-enter a product code,
if there is not a product code on the coa sticker, the key currently on your system is genuine

Should I reinstall it as well or just remove it for now? Also, the key you listed, that's just an example correct?

    Hi Betterdays,

leave it uninstalled for the time being, until we get sorted.

That Key is NOT an example, its the factory installed key for ALL HP W7 PRO computers.
(currently on your machine the last 3 blocks show on your MGDiag report)
The COA sticker Back-up key will be different, and is unique

Sorry for the delay but I'm hoping to be onsite to perform the tasks (norton, license restore) today and will respond with a new MGADiag report. Wondering also if I should attempting running windows update troubleshooter to see if it finds anything.

PS - I also ran windows update troubleshooter and it found 2 issues (Service Registration is missing or corrupt and Problems installing recent updates) and fixed but windows update still fails with same errors.

Not sure if I mentioned but before starting this thread but I attempted to load this patch:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...e-protocols-in

I did run the "Easy Fix" program with that link which loaded registry values as a precursor to being able to load KB3140245. This created the DefaultSecureProtocols registry entry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\WinHttp. I think the value for this is 0x00000A80 which would activate TLS 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2.

I'm wondering if this could be an issue since 3140245 failed to load (1st post) and winhttp is seeing these values and overriding the default. Windows Update log errors are winhttp related:

    From the link:
When an application specifies WINHTTP_OPTION_SECURE_PROTOCOLS, the system will check for the DefaultSecureProtocols registry entry and if present override the default protocols specified by WINHTTP_OPTION_SECURE_PROTOCOLS with the protocols specified in the registry entry. If the registry entry is not present, WinHTTP will use the existing operating system defaults for Win WINHTTP_OPTION_SECURE_PROTOCOLS HTTP. These WinHTTP defaults follow the existing precedence rules and are overruled by SCHANNEL disabled protocols and protocols set per application by WinHttpSetOption.

Again this was loaded after issues with windows update, java client, and web browser site access (mostly Chrome but slow page access using Firefox as well). The other issue could be SCHANNEL related since enables/disables protocols. Not sure what registry entry to look at for that.

    Thanks

I need to re-install Norton soon so need some direction. Right now I'm running Windows Firewall (could setting here be an issue) and Malwarebytes.

I have tried these commands as well:

    netsh int ip reset

    netsh winsock reset

Go to start search and type:- ncpa.cpl (press enter) your network connections will open, right click on your connection and select properties. Network properties will open highlight internet protocol V4 (tcp/ipv4), then select "install".

Select "protocol" from the options, then press "add".

Next click on "have disk" Next in the box headed "copy manufacturers files from" type:-

c:\windows\inf (press OK) , next select "internet protocol Version 4 (TCP/Ipv4)"
    press OK.

None of which fixed the issue.

I'm still having issues with Windows update, java client access to server, and browsers (Chrome/Firefox) are slow (https) or not able to access http websites.

    Thanks.
