    FYI, today's update, KB4457144, failed on all machines.

    This is why I run the updates a FULL month behind.
    That way, hopefully, all the bugs are ironed out.
    Although, that is not always the case.

    This worked on all my machines:

    Windows 7 Update KB4457144 Failing with Error Code 0x8000FFFF


    Long download with super slow installation, FYI.

    Just get 3177467 from here Microsoft Update Catalog and install it. No reboot required.

    After that the installation of 4457144 will succeed.
    Wouldn't have figured this out on my own, so again, thanks.

    Just for a follow up and information, Brink has posted an article regarding the re-issue of the Windows 7 Service Pack 1 [SP1] servicing stack update KB3177467 here:

    That's a known issue with outdated Servicing Stack.
