Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - November 2018 (KB890830)

Anybody understand why this month (MSRT) for Win 7 is requiring acceptance of license agreement, which only an attorney could understand, for XP operating systems? See below first few lines of agreement.

Could you please perform the following & upload the details:

Windows Genuine and Activation Issue Posting Instructions

If your Windows 7 is now detecting a licensing issue we need to find out why.

    You could ask Brink!

I don't know if this will help but Brink has just posted the KB890830 update for Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - Nov. 13.

The thread can be found here => KB890830 update for Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - Nov. 13.

I must say, it scares me a little posting all this info in open!

Struggling7. There is no need to worry about the info you posted, we regularly request that & it's needed in activation rejects or notification. Someone will come on soon to advise you on the best method of sorting this out.

I notice you have a blocked Office Status: 114 Blocked VLK 2

As well as a blocked Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage - 114 Blocked VLK 2

Do you still use XP Office or Office.

I only use Word for spell and grammar help (I'm terrible), I then copy and paste. I use Excel for personal stuff like personal budget. It is old copy like 2003 I think (would have to check disc), I've put it on my personal computers when I upgraded over the years with no issues. Even been on this one with Vista previously and Win 7 for last year and half, with no issues during updates until this month and then only with MSRT.

Edit: I checked Office disc, its Office 2002 XP Premium. Interestingly enough, I just got around to upgrading a laptop used around house on occasions and it installed all three updates with no problem (MSRT included). It’s a 64 bit version of Win 7 professional and also has the old Office version on it for same purposes described above.

Windows is shown as being licensed but the Office VLKs will probably prompt similar notifications to you on a regular basis.

Ranger4, Thanks so much for your help.

The Office was a licensed version years ago (if that's what VLKs stands for), not sure if age caused problem or not. I did a manual download of this month MSRT and ran it with no issues, guess I can do that going forward if problem continues.

Hope things are good for you in Aussie land.
