Why is Windows Update offering me KB3185319 now?

When I logged onto my computer this morning, Windows Update notified me that a new update was available to install.

Except that the update is the 2 year old KB3185319, and a quick Google search seems to indicate that this IE security update has long since been superseded

Microsoft is known to reissue old updates from time to time (KB2952664 being the most heinous example and more recently KB3177467 last month), but that doesn't seem to be the case here as there's no recent news articles about KB3185319 as is usually the case when an old update is reissued.

I can't answer your question but I found three blogs on the same subject with no resolution. This is one of them-

    Here's another one-

sorry to bring this old thread back but you guys may want to take a look at these comments from this recent blog from the Born Tech & Windows World site:

IE 11 Security update KB3185319 offered again in 2019 | Born's Tech and Windows World

it appears that the windows update "metadata" for these IE11 updates are jacked up or "mangled" as one user put it
