Looks like there is no recovery partition.

Can you now Boot into winpe (Windows Preinstalation Environment) on USB? If so open a cmd window and type:

    DISKPART <Enter>
    LIST DISK <Enter>

Take a Picture of the result and post picture onto this thread. Then type "Exit".

Again from a cmd prompt, type:
    DIR C:\ /w <Enter>
and make a note of the result.

    Here is the diskpart/listpart jpg:

Looks like I cannot "Manage" my uploads anymore. I'll try again using IE.

    Attached you should find "disppart_listpart.jpg".

Here are the results of "c: dir /w":

Volume in drive C has no label.
    Volume serial number is 0C94-0F72
    Directory of C:\
    File not found

And yes, I can boot into WinPE. However, the C: drive has nothing on it, and the X: drive has what looks like a bare bones system on it with no disk utilities.

X:\ is the winpe virtual drive.

As C:\ has nothing on it, then I don't think there is anything else you can do.

Are you saying that I can toss the laptop out? That there is no way I can get a system installed onto the C: drive?

That's strange. I wonder what the factory does when it received a new piece of hardware with nothing on the drive - how does it install a system?

Next week I'm getting (from Toshiba) a DVD that supposedly was burned for my particular system serial number, so we'll see how that one goes.

I recently ordered (for $30) a Windows 7 x64 Recovery Media package from Toshiba by providing my Toshiba model and part number, my Toshiba serial number, and the Windows Product Code. When the 4 DVDs arrived, I proceeded to install them.

After the first attempt failed, I attempted a second time and was successful. So to everybody who jumped in and helped, you guys get a big "THANK YOU' from me.
