    Hello

My Windows key is seen as invalid even though I have used it for 5+ years. I have tried SLUI 3 for two times and it still give me invalid.

    I did run the MGADiag and this is what I got;

    Hi Simcollect,

very unusuall error code that, if i've translated it correctly Not Verified.

Possibly due to the current MS hiccup, if this machine is networked via your Custom build.
(you could try the patch KB4487345)

    OR
Leave it for a few days, see if it re-activates

    Do have a question tho
This HP ProBook 4330s appears to have been shipped, with or W7 ready, With here in the UK, so why use a System Builder licence or are you using the same key on your Custom build - thats a NO.

Roy. It seems that the motherboard may have been replaced as it's dated 13/02/2018, so might well be the reason as well.

    Hi Roy

I been trying to use Windows Update but it does not allow me to do so because of the expired license. I heard around that Microsoft did disable some serial numbers connected to volume licensing which couldn't affect me as I bought this license in physical form in store way back.

I had it for a few days now starting at 10th I believe, not quite sure but I am not allowed to get any updates at all, so I can't install anything unless there might be one external source for installing windows updates?

That is correct the computer I got the issue with is a ProBook 4330s in which came with Windows 7 Enterprise in which after I left work they were not interested in getting it back (I guess it was out of cycle) so I kept it and did a full format of the HDD and installed the license I use today. ALL THOUGH... might be a bit off topic, there is a COA under the battery with a Windows 7 Pro OA (?) sticker. It might be tied to the firmware and I might use that one instead? The license I got on my laptop is also used on my custom build... yes... Which have been working fine for the last 5 years. I did upgrade and downgraded from Windows 10 a couple of times. Just trying to give as much info as I can to get the issue solved... :/

    Sorry for the ramble.

Really? That's quite weird as I have not been replacing the main board other than a service in which it went on warranty back in the day. The CPU has a socket in which I once replaced it... but I can't imagine that did do anything either as it was working fine after with the license.

    Hi SimCollect,

Good thing i read your system specs then, info is king, rambling is fine gave me the answers we needed.
    13th Jan actually
IS your date and time correct

    Good news

    1) you can only use that product key on 1 computer
    2) LEAVE it on your your custom build
    3) Attached COA
    a) IF anytime upgrade is available on your comp use it (via Control panel)
    b) if NOT then you need to perform a custom clean install
BOTH options have the facility to keep your current user folders

Having a problem with tutorial links here,---- Grrrrrrrrrrr
    Search tutorials for
    a) Anytime upgrade - easiest
    b) clean install with an upgrade - OPTION 2, Pro media required

(your OS MIGHT auto-activate, if not use the key on the COA, possible phone call required.)

Changing the cpu will not invalidate the key, as you said its tied to the motherboard. @Ranger4
The date your referring to is the Bios date, there will be a lot of newer ones because of Spectre/Meltdown patches issued by OEMs
If Sim had changed his MB then the W7 SLIC and Marker tables would NOT be present
