Renaming Software Distribution Folder - Access Denied

In following MS Update Troubleshooter steps, it suggests renaming the Software Distribution Backup Folder.
From an elevated command prompts, I type in the command, and I get an "Access is Denied" response.
I am logged in as Admin. Any idea why this is happening? I can successfully execute other commands.
    Thanks, -Jim.

What command are you typing in?

The folder is owned by system which is above admin it will also be locked if windows update is running you have to stop the service before you can do anything

    Thank you, Paul and Samuria.
It was a simple DOS command to rename the folder as a backup file, (same name, but add a '.bak' extension).
I followed Samuria's advice, killed the Update attempt that was running in the background, and that fixed the issue.
    You guys ROCK! (Ever Grateful).
