Here you go:

To restore the Windows Boot Manager:
  1. Access the Windows RE environment. Instructions for running Windows RE can be found in the article How to Access the Windows Recovery Environment (Windows RE).
  2. Enter the following command at the Windows RE Command Prompt:

    bootrec /fixboot

This command will repair the boot sector of the Windows partition.

Note: For more control over the boot sector repair process, see How to Rebuild the Boot Sector for Windows Vista and Windows 7/8.x/10.
  3. Exit the Command Prompt and restart the computer. This can be done simply by closing the Command Prompt window and then clicking on the Restart button.
  4. If you then find that the Windows Boot Manager runs but does not correctly boot Windows, you may need to boot back into Windows RE and enter the following command at the Command Prompt:

    bootrec /rebuildbcd

This command will allow you to rebuild the Windows boot configuration data (BCD).
You can use EasyBCD to set up dual boot in Win Boot Manager, however, you have to install GRUB on the Linux partition and point Linux option in Win Boot Manager to GRUB

Got it, my only worry now is this, windows is on the 4th partition of the drive it's on...at the time I thought I was done with Windows, but when I figured out back then in 2015 that in fact you could keep win7 without "upgrading" it to 10, I installed it back as my high quality sound card that requires a pci x1 port worked better for many applications that are sound-oriented, the proprietary drivers and their updates for it were required, I couldn't get ALSA or pulseaudio to be as great even with free software like Audacity, such as when time came to record sound from a turntable and other applications too, so I reinstalled it and my 2 other internal drives couldn't be formatted at the time and I didn't have a BD-R like now to clean up some data only drives/partitions so I ended up with this situation...

This is the log for the typical, installation of KB4474419, reboot going to 30% on shutdown then on booting back up, it says the usual "Wait while Windows Update configures Windows" or such, then it gets to 97% (sometimes less), then "Failure to configure Windows Update: Reverting changes..." which lasts about 7 minutes, another reboot, then "Wait while Windows Update is configuring Windows" for about 2-3 minutes then I get my login screen. I'm starting to notice other people online now who have trouble installing this one, but also have issues with KB4489878, I did initially, when the update came in 2 stages (I didn't get the 3 stages I see most people get for some reason). KB4490628 initially failed too for me but it was fine after I installed it manually. So I only have KB4474419 left and it's a pretty important one past August.. I haven't tried to install 4474419 manually after 4490628 installed correctly when doing so manually, if that info is worth knowing. I'm not exactly sure, but I should be seeing a reason with a code as to why Win Update fails in this log right?

When those WARNING lines show up, the system is functioning normally, so I thought maybe giving Windows Update Troubleshooter a try, I guess those are not supposed to be there, I only showed those 2 since they repeat a lot while the system is on.

0x80070005 for KB4474419 / KB4489878

Having the same issue on two of my Windows 7 Professional x64 machines. Tried almost everything I could find online for two days and still can't find a way to get these two dam updates to stick. Tried both online and manual updates and even wsusoffline to no avail. Checked the ReportingEvents.log and it states a code 0x80070005 for both of these updates. Anyone with any more ideas to crack this beast ?

I was able to install the other one you mentioned manually and by unchecking KB4474419. I'm only left with this one, that I've got only 4 months to fix or wait for a fix, see the thread over at microsoft's help forum...the more people post there about this, the more likely something good like a fix will come out.

I did so at the beginning, then before posting the log, I gave more information that was relevant. Sorry about that but otherwise, I followed the rules, I got my log posted now, nothing else to say, unless the thread over at MS' forums gets somewhere.

First off, I should say sorry...I'm what I would say not a professional in the field, but I'm pretty advanced in my knowledge of OS's, not just windows, I almost never have issues where I need outside counsel, I'm a biochemist, but my dad flooded me with all kinds of computers and video game consoles since I was 5 year old...this sort of situation highly irritates me, especially since I'm not the type of person who gets viruses/malware, I could get away with having no protection for years and just online scans on XP x64 for 4-5 years, then I learned Linux by myself in 2010, I'm normally patient, this is highly disturbing me, seems like MS wants me to install Win10 with SHA-2 installing extremely important update that will render windows update useless by early august if not installed...when win7 is gone, well, I expect people to figure out how to get updates for a while longer like in XP x64...I'll be leaving MS behind forever, cleaning up all the spy-parts of win10 is a massive task, from what I've read.

So, there goes, I did step 1,2 and 3 per your exact instructions, here's the results with a link to to the CBS.zip file.

Here, the error code is the same as in the title of the microsoft thread : KB4474419 will not install - Microsoft Community

Error 80004005 which is unexplained error by Microsoft, a garbage error that gets thrown around for many problems without explanation, I'm attaching my CBS.zip file, I've done the first 2 steps, no issues. I get a 404 error from the website in the pop-up screen. Likely because it is 100mb in size, not the maximum 8mb you have setup for the site. I can upload it elsewhere though, but I'll await your response.

Nevermind, my favourite file hosting site could take it and that's within the rules to give a link to the CBS.zip file hosted elsewhere, here it is : CBS.zip
