What's Wrong w/ This Picture ? Repeated KB Installs

When WU tells me that there's an update available, I generally read the info, decide whether i want it, whether to wait a cupla days or whether to hide it. So I looked today and after seeing the popup, saw two updates, read them and said "OK, I know I'm old but these seem awfully familiar. So I installed them, got a "installed successfully message" looked again and they were back again, looked at update history and it seems I have installed these updates 10+ times each ( 3 times in last few minutes) ... and each time "successfully" ... so why do they keep appearing as "needing to be installed" ?

In addition to Snick' instructions, did you reboot after the installation?

Message says Run SURT64 and it links to SURT32. I have run SURT dozens of times .... this one:

    JackNaylorPE,

Oops. I'll correct the OneDrive link, thank you!

    Summary:
    Seconds executed: 1188
    Found 181466 errors
CBS Watchlist Package Missing Total count: 120062
CBS Watchlist Component Missing Total count: 61404

That is a huge amount of errors. Quite often due to failing drive.
    Have you tested your drive?
chkdsk /r at administrative command prompt & SeaTools for Windows
    SeaTools Video
SMART if it is available on your drive & Short Self-Test or Short Self-Test & Short Generic. If the drive passes both, it's OK.

CrystalDiskInfo is good for disk information.

If your drive passes the tests, I'd recommend a Repair Install/In-Place Upgrade
    Repair Install Instructions.docx

I run Sea Tools about every 6 months ... It's a Seagate SSHD. The two short tests ... Short Drive Self Test and the Short Generic Test as well as the SMART check.... only been about 4 months but all still pass with no warnings. Also did the chksk thing and it came up clean.

Had the same thing in another thread on desktop ... big numbers on errors but Samsung Magician says it's fine. Maybe it's time to fore up SpinRight6 ... been about 7 years :)

These "errors" are the disk sector errors or actual errors in the system files ?

You don't have issues with your disk as you said you run/ran SeaTools & check disk (chkdsk) without issues being reported.
The issues are registry errors, way too many to try to correct manually.

The entries appear to all be related to multiple-language packs, from what I can see, every language pack available from M$. Did you intentionally install them?

This is from your most distant cbs cab. The beginning of the plethora or registry errors.

I didn't install a single language pack and don't have any MS products other than Windows and NET Framework.

Crystal Disk did report a Caution for

    Current Pending Sector Count 100
    Uncorrected Sector Count 100

But I checked 3 other disks and they all have the same numbers so not sure why it's a cautionary tale here.

Had uninstalled Open Office recently and did find a bunch of errors related thereto and fixed them. Nothing detected with CCleaner but unused file extensions some of which are used

Question on CBS folder... it gets big over time, as it relates to current problems, any reason not to delete the files

Regarding the language packs, it's my belief that when this install failed and corruption occurred (8-14-2018 22:45:22), then the cascade of attempted language pack install failures & you receiving repeated requests to install a few unrelated updates.

Regarding CBS folder, when working correctly, the CBS.log grows over time to approximately 50 MB at which time it is compressed into a and placed in a CbsPersist_NumberHere.cab
