and after installing KB 4490628 (see my post #28 above, this thread)

KB 4493132
KB 4512506
and
KB 4512514

installed without any problems after I installed KB4490628 (KB4474419 was already installed) apart from getting the "0KB total, 0% complete" message for a long time - the updates eventually installed).

Happy to mark this now as 'Solved'.
Thanks for sharing the solution.

No problem. After all, that's the purpose of this forum isn't it?

Glad to be able to 'give' for a change

do NOT install the KB4493132 update!

If you do not want those "end of support" notifications on your Windows 7 system, block/hide the KB4493132 update from WU.

now Microsoft plans to issue those "end of support" notifications to Windows 7 Professional as noted here.

UH-OH ! (for Win7 Pro users)

Windows 7 Professional users may need to hide/block the newly released KB4524752 update as that one is similar to the KB4493132 update but this new one is specifically targeted for Pro systems showing the EOL notifications:

I resemble that!
Actually, I suspect some have computers that would not 100% get along with Windows 10 hardware-wise, driver-wise. Some software may not run well on W10 - I'm only guessing here. I think many just personally want only Windows 7.
