Pretty close, when you run FRST the 1st time, it creates FRST.txt
The Registry search you performed perfectly!
If you would upload the FRST.txt please, it should be on your desktop, which is where you should have placed FRST and run it from.
Yes, that is why I asked you to place it on your desktop. FRST places all logs it generates in the location of the FRST.executable

Give me a bit to gen the Fix script.

Here you go.

Oh no that's not it. I don't see that file
Searching for it
A file w/ the name you listed does not show up when I search my computer.

No big deal, it contains additional info regarding your system
OK
Download Fixlist.txt
& place it on your desktop
FRST is still on your desktop? Yes
Run FRST
Click Fix
Post log that appears on desktop please.

Downloaded Fixlist.txt as requested. Opened FRST. When I click FIX I get a warning.

"Looks like you don't know what to do. To prevent damage to the system the tool will exit."
What am I not doing?

Let me look at fixlist, if I left an extraneous entry, that message will appear.
You are correct in what you are doing.
One extra :
on

Figures!
Try this

Done.
FYI, I had to turn off auto updates as it keeps trying to install W10 every night.

I've been having the same issue for months, have all three of the pre-requisite updates installed (or at least that's what their standalone installers tell me) and yet despite trying tens of times I can't get KB4524102 installed. If I'm following this thread correctly, will uninstalling Avast and its remnants allow the update to successfully install?

Not necessarily, and most likely not.
If you run the System Update Readiness Tool SURT for your system, it will produce a log.
checkSUR.log
If all or most of that is clear, a Repair Install will correct almost everything.
I did one on my own desktop yesterday took total time about 2 hours. Reason, because I can, and it is that easy.
Here's my enhanced version from my OneDrive, it places your CBS Folder on the desktop for you.
