Acer Aspire 772G9829-V3 laptop Win 7 Pro x64 7601 WU & WUSA
I was hoping the mods would move all my stuff from belonging-to-two-others' threads into Emsisoft and KB4474419 thread, and moving that thread from Security forum into this forum.
No problem, we will simply continue the process here - in this thread.
Before giving an update of the process with AA772G W7P64 laptop, I want to publically thank very much Paul Black and Snick for all of their help, advice, doodad & WhatsIt downloads -- all of which are safely stored on the D partitions on both laptops, and soon to stored onto ext usb 1TB backup/restore HDDs.
The update of the WU-WUSA process begins - later, shortly.

With the other laptop working and WUing just fine, we turn our attention to the one given in the title.
After trying numerous things suggested by forum members, after each attempt to install this MSU, install that MSU, the other MSU, one at a time and multibles, I reached the conclusion, this laptop's windows 7 pro 7601's internal WU mainstall chine is broken, and my educatsd guess is that if w7p internal wu machine is broken, external fix attempts are gambles.
It took three rollbacks, restores, to finally arrive the same place a few weeks ago. I once again have a WU menu offering several windows updates ready to be downloaded and installed.
After catching up on security data updates, "adding back" utilities, putting WUSA directory with much PBlack and Snick stuff on C with a copy on D --
-- immediately I used Macrium Reflect and Image for Windows to make two full images of: the System Reserved partition and the OS - C - partition, and one full image of the data partition.
Now, rest of the week and beyond, will carefully and surgically begin using tools from The Two Dudes and others, and, will be keeping an eye on w7p's wu engine every step of the way.

Have you tried this . . .

I have put this together which has worked for a few members. The latest WU’s require that the following are installed FIRST . . .

KB4490628 [SSU]
KB4474419 [SHA-2]
KB4516655 [NEW SSU]

If any of the above WU’s are NOT installed, then download the .msu files below in the same order to the desktop and install them =>

KB4490628 => KB4490628 [SSU] - Servicing stack update for Windows 7 SP1 - [12-Mar-2019].
KB4474419 => KB4474419 [SHA-2] - Code signing support update for Windows 7 SP1 - [10-Sep-2019].
KB4516655 => KB4516655 [NEW SSU] - Servicing stack update for Windows 7 SP1 - [10-Sep-2019].

Now Run WU's again!

Paul, concerning the downloaded MSUs, which install utility would you recommend I try first? Should I run autoSURT and/or SURT MSU before the three steps (the three KBs) in your post?

[1] I would download the 3 .msu files and try installing them first [it will tell you if they are already installed]. Then Run WU again!

[2] If you think that your problem is definately WU based then . . .

Please run Collate_Data_For_WU_Problems.bat, Option [2] from here => Collate Data For WU Problems and then upload the compressed WU_Problem desktop folder using the tutorial at the bottom of the above link [Upload to SevenForums . . .] and someone will look at it for you.

There is DISM++ board with the add and install, there are command lines using w7p DISM.EXE, or another? Which one should I try first to install the those three first?

Do you think autuSURT or SURT MSU has a part to play before or after your three MSUs?

[2] If there are still problems after doing [1], then run my batch script, it colates ALL the information needed to try and resolve why there is a problem with WU. It includes SURT & SFC etc etc!

First, because Net Framework has been for some time working less than 100% for some needed programs and utilities, I'm going to use MS tools to remove all frameworks, then reinstall all Windows 7 frameworks, if all successful, full image of C partition time. Paul, your real cool deep Collate batch-file calls for user input a few times -- no biggie, will run again when I'm staying in the room.

You might want to run this first . . .

Under the heading .NET Framework Versions Installed . . ., please run NET_Framework_Versions_Installed.bat, Option [2] from here => BATCH PROGRAMS [Standalone]. It will tell you which .NET Framework versions you already have installed, just in case when you remove them all and re-install them some of your programs DON'T work. It will give you an idea of which ones you currently have installed that are needed!

My windows features on/off display remains a blank screen, does it take minutes to populate? How do I fix this? Re-installation of net framework needs this display. Had to restore to prior ndp-removal state.

SURT & SFC /SCANNOW -- Paul, Snick, do I copy surt, autosurt, and sfc to desktop?
And, would these things run better to run these from safe mode with network?

You are probably better off doing this [it will put ALL the files needed into a desktop folder for you to upload!]. . .

Please run Collate_Data_For_WU_Problems.bat, Option [2] from here => Collate Data For WU Problems and then upload the compressed WU_Problem desktop folder using the tutorial at the bottom of the above link [Upload to SevenForums . . .] and someone will look at it for you.

You obviously DIDN'T run my batch script then?

It would have told you what .NET Framework versions you had installed, which were obviously the ones needed to run your installed programs!

I did run the script, it found 1.0, 2.0, 3.5, 4.5 -- however windows reported 3.5 needing repair, I need to re-install only the nets needed. MS site gave long list of some 350s and many 45x.x MSUs.
