    Windows update

    This is a new one...

windows is telling me about updates and the win updates window is blank..

if it says it has an important update to offer it still is blank but i can press install update and it does, later i can check what it installed.

but i cannot do this if it's an optional update and i can't even see what it's about. look at the screenshots

Only thing I can suggest is to select show hidden updates - it may be a glitch caused by a previously hidden update being re-issued

I got an "important" update notice at about the same time, and it said that it would be installed at the next boot, without asking permission to do so. I have it set not to automatically install updates, so this is somewhat annoying....and it didn't give any details about the nature of the update.

As far as I know, the only updates that are hidden are those which you chose to hide. It is odd, because now when I go to Windows Update, it shows a couple of updates in the normal fashion, waiting to be installed. Now I'm not sure if the previous one was one of those, or something else.

I guess it was, because I installed the two known critical updates, then looked at the list of installed updates afterward, and it only showed those two for today.
