Now that makes sense to me - I had W10 on this computer and on Hubbies Lap top - just didnt like it - so used to W7 which was just fantastic new version of XP with improvements - both those 2 of the very best IMHO fm MS - felt 10 just didnt shape up.

Now since it has been around and supposedly grown during that time - and W7 is no longer going to be supported, I reluctantly will now do the next step and re-install W10 using tool.

Crossing eveyrthing as I now start the process - making sure nothing gets left behind I might need - always have had extra HD 1T where put anything needed for future or re-install etc but a new image would be good just in case...........
    Good luck guys

Well thats no good - went through process W10 downloaded updated and then said no good and restored me back to W7. During the process it did say something needs fixing shall it scan. Maybe what has been troubling me for ever.
Only thing to do is to buy a new cmputer I guess mine is circa 2013 and had a bit of trouble lately - done 2 renstalls over last year due to whatever it is - I cant find a problem but seems MS did.

And as I want a Tower as have all the keyboard monitor quite new etc - its an all in one these days mainly fm quick look up for a tower via E Bay- refurbished not much more than buying W10 disc, plus then haved got a newer computer.
Now tried updating the laptop to try to get it up to W10 and its say no updates found.

So maybe at end of updates forever and ever Amen for 7.

Some of those offered on Ebay are quite cheap less than $300 buys you tower with 16gb ssd etc refurbished with even a short warranty.

I built mine in 2010 and upgrade to W10 after having a few minor issues.....but after that it was plain sailing.

I'd recommend posting your specific problems you are having with upgrading over at at our sister site.

Problem is I have no idea what stopped it - didnt say - just that unable to load and restored back etc. I'm not that good just average user - when it comes to problems with the actual OS. Which is why I do reinstalls. Years back when first had a problem - found it expensive charged $200 before they even started. So today will have doubled likely. So a second hand refurbished will do the job and posted direct to my door. Thanks though good suggestion.

They'll ask you for logs and Event Viewer at the Win10 forum. Try that before you spend money. we don't charge

There will be a record saved somewhere as to the issue during the update - users at TenForums will help you access that.

I couldn't join W10 as first off thought log in and cant - then tried to join and said used up all my tries etc.
Anyway I found event logs but haven't got a clue how to get to upload them for you or W10 folk to read why I cant get W10 on this computer. Now have tried on lap top and that too failed. I am wondering if this is just now normal when anyone tries. Both had W10 back in 2016 and both rolled back so its not that they cant take it as smaller anyway than W7 for so told.
As said why spend money - maybe have to the end buy eh W10 - need bigger disc than I have currently.

You need to create a new login for Tenforums

It sounds as if you tried to login with your login from here.

They are two completely separate forums, but are run by the same people as here

You can use your same User ID as here as long as it is free

Yep you're correct that is what I did
Will go there and join 10 - as inevitable that is where we will be sooner or later.
Meanwhile both computers are still W7.
