    Hi

You got the non-genuine because the install media you used wasnt HP branded
    Quite a common situation.

The key present on your system now should STILL be

    4FG99-BC3HD-73CQT-WMF7J-3Q6C9

HP W7 Home Premium OEM factory default

    please rerun the tool

Rerun the activation tool? For what purpose, please? Oh, if you mean that the key didn't seem to be the same, I only got a very quick peek at it. That shouldn't be taken as conclusive. If it ain't broke, I've learned to stop meddling. It can go bad so quickly. If that isn't the issue, please tell me what is. Thanks. Ah. Update: I ran the vsb file on Brink's tutorial and the key is indeed different. Thanks. That's a problem, right? How did it happen? What happens if I just leave it as is?

uh-oh? Will everything crash? My Macrium isn't working but I tried the tease and uninstalled the extra paid ingredients. That could just be an uninstall reinstall problem unrelated. I'll try that. Update. Yup. It's running properly now after repairing in uninstall/change/repair.

Copy down what torchwood gave you, save it, just in case it's needed in the future. For now, enjoy the Windows :)

    Hi

Thats the product key for an Acer machine.
When you used the Raymondcc tool, did you scroll down to HP???
Its possible it may turn non-genuine sooner or later

I would go back to the tool and reset it for an HP model

Hi. I didn't scroll at all! Thanks for the tip! UPDATE: I didn't find a list of different tools for different brands of computer. There seems to just be one file to download.

    Hi

Bought an HP Elitebook with W10 on it, originally W7, a week ago.
Upgraded to W7 and used option 3 to install the xml files using OEM licence installer, the scroll option was definately there

Can you do a screenshot of the scroll option? Might be useful for others.

Hi. I just tried to download option 3 to my Windows 10 laptop... there was no list of options. The admin there (Hal 900 - no Hal machine has ever made an error ) says, "Some licenses are cross-compatible and some of the keys work with all OEMs. If it works now, it will continue to work."

    Hi
    @SIW2
cant post a screenshot NOW, as soon as you run the tool it goes into autodetect mode, if an xml file is present/installed, it just throws up the current details

Did the W10 machine previously have W7 installed, if not i would expect the tool to go to a default setting.

As i said and in aroundabout way Hal confirmed, it should be OK
the MS activation servers work on a set of rules if they pass by fair means or foul there likely to stay that way

Afaik the oem.xrm-ms file ( it is an xml format file) has to match the oem bios code. Other oem slp keys work.
I.E. HP bios code needs HP oem.xrm-ms file, but other oem keys will work with it.
