It seems that kb3138612 update is might be needed for online activation.

It is the correct slp key for Samsung.

I ran that cmd and it came back "CQBVJ-9J697-PWBPR-4K7W4-2BT4J applied successfully" Not sure what that means.
I used that to activate and it came back "invalid code".
I have no idea why the op tried to enter it after successfully running the command.

I have no idea why the op tried to enter it. All that is needed is running the command.
It was because I didnt know if it had activated. So I tried doing it manually. But it's working so thanks for your help.

All of the oem slp keys are well known and are all over the internet.

The cert and key and bios table go together to activate offline. I am pretty sure it was fine. You just needed to run the command and then give it a minute to show up as activated when bringing up the system window.

    True.

Windows 7 activate will be failing if missing important security packs (presently MSFT web lists 2-3 packs are key packs).

I did about ten times Win7 re-install recently. each activation failed when immediately after re-install. Microsoft Windows 7 support ended. hence clueless.

but I was pretty sure my PCs in Office are with genuine keys. when install test done (added various drivers and all securities packs). I did try once more. it's noticed the PC activated. then I tried at least four keys, previously invalid. they passed.

    Similar problem

After working for more than a year, Windows 7 Pro is suddenly "not genuine." I followed the thread and checked for the update install (the KB313 update) mentioned toward the end. It was already installed. I have two computers running Win 7 Pro, but have two legit keys. Can't find the second one. I suspect because I used the wrong key on the desktop MS is blocking it now, as it appears on both computers. Any thoughtful assistance appreciated.

    HP ProBook 640 G1
is it this 4th gen laptop
HP ProBook 640 G1 Notebook PC Product Specifications | HP(R) Customer Support

Is there any reason you are using a COA key on the HP ProBook 640 G1?

I suspect because I used the wrong key on the desktop MS is blocking it now, as it appears on both computers.
You used the same key on a different machine. Is that other machine still showing as valid?

    Hi

Certainly looks like that one SIW2, MGAdiag reports it such
This machine was shipped with W8 and downgrade rights to W7, confirmed by specific entries on the SLIC table
From this would have to assume the W8 key is hardcoded on the comp

Please check your battery compartment to see if there is a W7 OEM product key label, if so use that

If not, we can check if the W7 key is present on the system
from an elevated command, copy/type this
    slmgr /upk

you should recieve a comfirmation message, then reboot >> X2 <<
if the W7 hardcoded key is present it should now be the default

I dont think they have win7 key hardcoded. Afaik there would be a msdm table for win8 and a slic table for win7. The win7 recovery/downgrade media should automatically activate offline.

The op could d/l the media from hp using the cloud recovery tool , but it is massive if you want the drivers as well.

    http://hpsupport.cloudrecoverytool.d...coveryTool.exe

or here HP Cloud Recovery Tool - Download

Put in any serial number like the one below, then select what machine you want it for in the dropdown. If it is not still showing the exact machine then pick a more recent one with win7x64 pro download, should work fine.

It d/l a big wim to the TEMP folder ( or two wims if you select drivers) then extracts them to usb stick.

    Win7 activation

I am in the midst of trying the suggestions above, but I finally got a response from MS that made sense. The hard drive was transferred from a dell machine to a new HP unit I bought from a refurbisher, and I suspect something was transmitted to MS that allowed them to match up the hardware. I bought the machine 6 months ago and it worked fine until two days ago. The message from MS was that Dell blocked the key. I've contacted HP to see if they will give me a new key, as I believe the OEM code is for HP. I'm hoping they will do that. Meanwhile I'll be trying the above.

The desktop is also a HP that originally have Win 7 Home installed, which I upgraded to Pro about 10 years ago. I think I've list the key for that.
