Is that an slp key you used ?
You would need a retail or system builder key.
Hi
thats the old version of Mgadiag....but it does give me the relevent details
1) the product key in use was "lifted" from another comp ----- product key TYPE 8
2) the machine only has Vista SLIC table entries
3) @SIW2 is correct its an SLP key
there also appears to be a Problem with Office 2003.......
please rerun a new Mgadig... link is in pinned in the first post here

I thought it was a series of retail keys but I"m beginning to think they are OEM keys. Here's teh MGAreport from the updated version in the link you sent. I don't know what a SLP key is.
Office is working fine; I have the original disks and installed from them, and installed an update from another disk set and file.
The system was purchased with VISTA installed and I downgraded to WIN 7 Pro. I did a fair amount of equipment switching including hard disks and added wifi capability. Originally it was an ethernet connection. The Win 7 Pro I installed worked fine for 8 or 9 years, and I have the original key, which MS reports is "blocked." If there are other questions created by the report below or these comments, please let me know.

If it is blocked that is probably because it has been used on numerous machines.

SLP = system-locked pre-installation

you need install this KB here for error going away
Microsoft Update Catalog
Can you explain why the update is needed?
no, but with this KB the windows update error on my computer windows 7 goes away,
like "cannot find any updates" "error
0X80072F8F"
after applying update, and reboot, windows update would function normally :)
ah: well, my bad, this solution has already been posted on page 1 or 2, all well then.
The orignal key was installed on the same computer before the equipment changes, and now MS reports the key is blocked. The phone activation system is useless; the people they have can't do anything about that. Any suggestions?
