Trying to install Windows 7, but getting CHKDSK errors after SP2, why?

    Hello people,

My problem may be usual? Because I am also getting chkdsk errors as I try to install back Windows 7 alone normaly after having running Windows 10 on thoses machines. Can it be explained somehow by my box could be loosing normal SMART capabilities with my HD controller onboard? I have tryied many differents HDs, it seams that my motherboard have been altered?

That mentionned the machine is obviously beforehand well all lowlevel formated, and seams to be all with good BIOS settings... The problem is that I am getting CHKDSK errors after installing SP2 (so to activate my license online afterward) getting errors around 8% to 10% approximatly during the 1st step on 5, and also some errors during the 3rd step on 5.

I begin by applying in order kb30006137, and kb947821-v12, and tried also kb947821-v34, then applying kb3020369 and finaly the kb3125574 (SP2), afterward I am getting checkdisk errors, myself still unable to repair or prevent that happening, that is why I post here if I can get help troubleshooting this?

SFC /scannow seams not so much to repair anything strangely?

With this new post of mine, I have attached a zip file named "femv221028_All_my_diags_and_logs.zip" that contain many log files, and also reports, from some usuals bootcds, so to work around? If anyone can take a look at it?

PS: Please, consult my profil's computer set's technical specifications, if You can?

Thank You very much for your collaboration.

    Best regards.

Welcome to the forum. chkdsk only starts if the disk is set as dirty when windows starts it writes a dirty bit to the drive on shut down it clears it if it finds it set then it will fire up chkdsk. If you let chkdsk run it should clear it or you can try manaully Manually Reset or Clear Dirty Bit in Windows without using CHKDSK • Raymond.CC

Try testing your RAM. Use Memtest86 and use the settings of 4 passes (default). Depending on how much RAM you have it may take a while. If you get just one error, you now know the possible reason as to why you have bad data on the HDD.

To rule out the exact RAM stick you will then have to test each stick individually. If all those sticks tested individually PASS, then we can assume it's a RAM slot on the motherboard. So test each slot individually.

I use Ventoy to run Memtest86 (as well as a host of other things). You take Ventoy and write it to a blank USB stick. Once Ventoy is written to the USB stick (you won't see any files) then simply place an .img or .iso file on the USB stick. Boot the Ventoy formatted USB stick and the Ventoy menu will show the .img's or .iso's to select from. In this case we are booting Memtest86.

Thank You F22 Simpilot, but after trying a double pass of Memtest 86+ ver. 4.15b, then I can be qute sure that my ram sticks seams to be all right.

Otherwise, to everyone, I must mention that I have tryied all possible tests with the Boot CD called HP Insight Diagnostics, and also the newer one Boot CD called HP VIsion DIagnostics. It is one of those two, that let me guess that Win10 may have altered the SMART capabilities of my motherboard? As an hypothesis from me.

Else, can anyone tell me if by any chance, the Boot DVD somewhere called "Gandalf's Win10 PE x64 RedStone3" (or newer) could help me the restore some motherboard components to new?

Also, what is it that we called "volitility" (somehow), about being able to reset most deeply the CMOS and BIOS?

    Thank You people again.

Let us go back to basics.

You appear to be having three different problems,

I am also getting chkdsk errors as I try to install back Windows 7 alone normaly after having running Windows 10 on thoses machines
I am getting CHKDSK errors after installing SP2

Ultimately it seems as though you wish to have a fresh clean install of Windows 7 on your computer that is fully updated. If that is correct, you should see Integrate7 script – automatically download and slipstream all updates! - Windows 7 Forums (sevenforums.com)

    Hope this helps,

Alternatively, you could try clean install Windows Vista then upgrade to Windows 7 from that.
