Get Microsoft Update on Windows 7 in 2023

I just installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 Ultimate on an old laptop I found in my cupboard. I used Legacy Update to restore functionality of Windows update and I've patched Windows updates to end of life. There's a link within Windows Update which supposedly allows me to activate Microsoft Update but when I click that link, it just takes me to a website which tells me to access Windows Update from the start menu. It does nothing more.
Is there a way to activate Microsoft Update on Windows 7 in 2023? I've searched all over the internet but it's been no help to me.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Do a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit, then run the 817 MB size Simplix UpdatePack7R2 23.7.12 pack, then install the necessary device drivers.

The operating system will be good to go and will be up to date to July 2023.

The third update (KB4490628) is not english. does this matter?

This tool works very well for updating to end of life, but still doesn't solve my issue, I'm not receiving Microsoft Updates, only Windows Updates. So if I install MS Office, I won't receive updates for it

Did you install Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Office 2010?
