Did you install KB4474419 & KB4490628? See How to solve the windows update error 80072ee2 focusing first on the dlls to register, your time settings, resetting the proxy settings, and the firewall settings. Disregard solutions 8 & 9 because they are for servers only. Disable your AVS. Also try sfc /scannow from the command prompt after right clicking on the command prompt shortcut and selecting run as administrator. That's known as an elevated command prompt.

Also can you explain what you wish to achieve? Why are you trying to update windows if your goal is to upgrade to windows 10?

I am under the impression that Windows update needs to be working to utilize the MCT. Both KB--4419 and KB--0628 are not applicable to this computer. sfc /scannow returns 'Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service'.

Do you have those updates installed? If not then windows update can't connect to the server due to M$ removing support for the certificates. If you're needing installation media for 10 maybe you should check with the 10 forums as per my link in post #2. If you know of specific updates that you need to install you can download them from the catalog. If you are having problems installing 10 you should check with them. As for that error try this: Redirecting

Basically nothing works on your installation. The good news is the MCT does not require Windows Update. The MCT requires TLS 1.2 enabled. Try to have KB3140245 and EasyFix 51044 not fail for a change.

Update to enable TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 as default secure protocols in WinHTTP in Windows - Microsoft Support

On a side note neither the MCT nor Windows Update require SHA-2 code signing support to connect to the server.

They require TLS 1.2 enabled for it.

EasyFix ran okay, kb--0245 came back as not applicable to this computer. If Win update is not required to upgrade to Win 10 Let me jump up to that forum and try my luck. townsbg and Volume Z thank you very much for your time and effort! I will check back and keep ya'all in the loop.
