Any way to Activate Win7 without Internet or Phone?

Hello. I bought a Windows 7 OEM installation disc via EBay. It has a product key.

I used it to install the Win7 on an HP ProBook laptop. I use this laptop to access certain old files (MS Office 2K files, for example). I have other desktops/laptops that run newer versions of Windows but these new versions sometimes have compatibility problems with certain older apps. So I use this old laptop for this purpose.

I installed the Win7 and entered the Product Key. It worked fine until recently, Windows started displaying messages requesting that I Activate the Win7 image. I tried activating it thru the Internet but it doesn’t work - it seems MSFT disabled the server that handles this.

I then tried to activate Win7 via a phone number, as per this link:

    Activate Windows 7 by Phone

However, when I get a phone number and I call that number, I get a message telling me to go to help.microsoft.com. It doesn’t allow me to Activate Win7 using a passcode.

Windows tells me that I have about 2 weeks to Activate this Win7. Is there another way to Activate the Win7, other than via the Internet or the phone?

Or is there a Microsoft phone number that I can call that will allow me to Activate Windows 7 using a passcode?

    Hi

OEM is a bit of a missnoma, can be multiple versions

    >>IF<< your HP comp was originally a W7 model it would have automatically activated using the base files included with the install

You have however bought and re-installed a "secondary" install version

    1) does your comp have an OEM certificate sticker attached.... it will show the version and a back up key
    (not neccessarily PRO)

    2) please run this tool and post the results, i will analyse it

    Torchwood,

    1) The laptop, an HP ProBook 6470B, does not have an OEM sticker on it.

I bought the laptop as Used, on EBay. It came with Windows 7 already installed. The Win7 copy that came with the laptop was the installed version on the hard drive. There was no separate Win7 DVD sent with it.

For security reasons, I reformated the hard drive and re-installed Windows from the OEM Win7 that I bought from EBay.

The seller of the laptop was not the same as the one who sold me the Win7 OEM. The Win7 OEM came with a Product Key.

After I installed the OEM Win7, it worked fine for a few days until the Activation messages started appearing.

I will try the tool and post the results. Thanks.

    Torchwood,

I ran MGADiag and here's the output
(I glossed out some data that can identify my laptop, for security reasons)

I see "Description: Windows Operating System - Windows(R) 7, OEM_COA_SLP channel" in the output, so this makes me think that the Win7 I bought/installed is an OEM Certificate of Authority and not a counterfeit. But I could be wrong so correct me if I'm wrong.

    Hi

hopefully SIW2's fix will work as it will default the product key to a first install as new setup
(if it does not please install KB971033)

Regarding the install media you bought it is NOT a genuine MS >>ISSUED<< disc
The product key in use ending DBDQD was never issued with any product.
It is has been "lifted" from another W7 computer, its a backup key from a OEM certificate sticker
(check your battery compartment for yours)

    NOTE
IF you did not have to input the product key, then if i was you i would wipe the drive and start again with different install media
