that should be ok for win7. I have a b75m-d3h.
300 series motherboards with 8th gen cpu also work fine with win7.
For Future Windows 7 does not need to be activated, This was the case well before current time. There is several workarounds and one of them is you can just leave that nagging update reminder or suppress it. You can also fake activate the OS as well. Even so being more relevant now because the license server has gone down it means even further the activation does not mean anything.
Even on side not Just pass everything through legacy update and it will handle what it need to and the activation ties into that, it also updates Where LU is aiming to keep the parity that MS killed. Yes it did kill some stuff to do with windows 7 in the last few years and it means you cannot get all the updates.
Overall it does not matter. Its only since windows 10 and i think also 8.1 where activation maters.
There still may be good reasons to activate, as your personal settings, like wallpaper, will not be saved. Traditionally, Microsoft would turn off various functions over time, to discourage the use of unactivated systems. Are you saying this is no longer true? Because I recently tried upgrading W7 Pro to Ultimate, and could not activate, as I did not have a Pro license. (I misunderstood some things I read online, and thought I could activate, as MS no longer cared about W7). I ended up reinstalling W7 Pro, as I did not want to experience the Wrath of MS, so to speak. I also like to personalize my system. I woud hate to think I did this all in vain!
Not the case if you do the right methods you are not limited from anything, It only really became more rooted as a thing after Windows 7 where they lock down the OS more and more, yes there is some of that on 7 but 7 is way easier to bypass.
Just use Legacy update anyway it will handle all that for you, i would say past that you should be using LU unless you like patching manually. You won't get all the updates without it and if you know what to do then you are missing a whole range of stuff that is actually quite wide.
I do use Legacy Update, then I switch to Simplix. I have not had any problems. I do see that some folks do have issues, these seem to occur with newer hardware. All my machines are 10+ years old. I try to keep them out of the landfill. Not good for the environment. No Windows 11 for me. I gave up after Windows 7. all downhill from there, in my opinion.
it doesn't, if it truly matters myself or others would not be using the OS right now without activating it legally because the server is down and not accessible. Yeah exactly
Keys for days mean nothing now in 2024, i have over a few hundred. All useless might as well burn them in a fire.
I have never had a problem activating any of my computers even the ones with Windows XP. If I can't activate Windows online or by phone I just call Microsoft support. They have always been happy to help me get Windows activated.
