    Hmmmm

less than a month ago i re-installed W7 on my old Acer machine using non OEM media (SP1), it originally showed non-genuine until i installed the OEM activation files, >>after<< i'd used Simplex to install all further updates

NO need for any other KB's etc
its up and running like a good'un

    post the Mgadiag results

If activation doesn't work the normal way have you tried to call Microsoft support?

Last year I needed to activate two computers with Windows XP. Online and phone support did not work for Window XP. I assume the activation servers for Windows XP were not online anymore. I called Microsoft support. Microsoft support was very helpful in activating these computers for me.

BTW, I don't remember what phone number I used to call Microsoft's live support. Does anyone know what that number is?

Follow this guide to force phone activation. How can I activate Windows 7 via phone system? Note: You will have to right click on command prompt and select run as administrator. Also take a screenshot of the activation window after you enter in the entire activation code.
